The Ideal Candidate

You are someone with at least 5 years of experience as a cloud engineer in Azure.
You communicate clearly, transparently and pro-actively. You have worked in an environment where you needed to work together with developers to get things done. You have experience with public facing online applications, high availability and high traffic. You have a cooperative attitude, a DevOps mindset and as such you're interested in the work of others. You communicate easily and can explain technical concepts to non-technical people. You have a clear understanding of what information is needed at which time for a project manager or for the client. You have organizational sensitivity (and can explain what this means).

• You have experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform.
• You have solid knowledge of serverless services of Azure.
• You have knowledge and experience with monitoring systems, such as Application Insights, Azure Monitor Datadog, New Relic, Dynatrace, Prometheus, Grafana, Tempo.
• You have knowledge of and experience with various pipelining tools, such as GitHub, Azure DevOps.
• You have knowledge of and experience with microservices related technology: Docker, Kubernetes.
• You have a good conceptual understanding of cloud architecture and system thinking.
• You have worked as an engineer in a DevOps context.
• You are familiar with the following technologies:
  • Container services
  • AKS
  • Azure functions
  • SQL as a service
  • Cosmos DB
  • Azure Monitoring (including APM)
  • AppGW, AFD, NSG, Azure Firewall

• Have worked within the context of publicly accessible, highly available eCommerce and or experience platforms.
• Have experience working in an international context with on- and off-shore teams.
• You are used to communicate with external clients.
• Upper-intermediate English level.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Accountability, collaboration, and time-management skills.
• Strong desire to learn more about business every day.

The Role

As a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer within our organization, you will: 

• Build, change and maintain cloud infrastructures in Azure – compute, data and networking.
• Set up logging, monitoring and security.
• Support and teach teams to set-up and maintain their own pipelines.
• Coach intermediate and junior colleagues to improve their technical skills.
• Pro-actively advise teams, clients and projects on cloud related improvements in the areas of performance, availability, security, reliability and cost effectiveness.
• Help project and service managers to budget and plan cloud work, identify project or SLA risks.
• Participate as cloud engineer in our 24x7 On Call Duty rotation.
• Coordinate cloud work in a project with multiple cloud engineers.
• Be the single point of contact for client, project and service management on cloud topics for a specific project.
• Make sure that documentation is created and maintained.
• Govern automation at the right level and quality.
• Supervise compliance with security standards and client requirements.
